Dihydropyran
CAS#: 110-87-2
Dihydropyran is an organic compound characterized by a six-membered ring structure containing five carbon atoms and one oxygen atom. It serves as a useful building block and reagent in organic synthesis. Dihydropyran is often used in the protection of alcohols as tetrahydropyranyl (THP) ethers, which can be later deprotected to regenerate the alcohol. It’s also involved in various cyclization reactions to form pyran rings in complex molecules.
