Florfenicol

Florfenicol, with the molecular formula C12H14Cl2FNO4S, is a synthetic, broad-spectrum antibiotic. It’s primarily used in veterinary medicine to treat bacterial infections in farm animals, especially respiratory diseases in cattle and swine. Florfenicol inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by targeting the ribosomal peptidyl transferase activity. As a derivative of thiamphenicol, it lacks the associated risk of aplastic anemia seen with chloramphenicol.
