Medroxyprogesterone Acetate, with the molecular formula C24H34O4, is a synthetic derivative of the naturally occurring hormone progesterone. It plays a key role in the female reproductive system, influencing menstrual cycles and fertility. As a medication, it’s used in hormone replacement therapy, to treat abnormal uterine bleeding, and as a contraceptive in the form of injectable birth control. Additionally, it can be prescribed for endometriosis, certain types of cancer, and to prevent endometrial hyperplasia in postmenopausal women taking estrogen.
