Metformin HCL

Metformin HCL, represented by the molecular formula C4H11N5⋅HCl, is the hydrochloride salt form of metformin, a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent. It is primarily used to manage and treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Metformin works by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal glucose absorption, and improving insulin sensitivity, thereby increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. As a result, it helps control blood sugar levels without causing significant weight gain or promoting insulin release.
